I’m Getting Published!

First off, I should let you all know that it’s not my book that’s getting published. Nope, I’m up to 18 Literary Agent rejections and one week away from getting my manuscript back from my editor. What’s getting published is a lovely short story I wrote for an Anthology submission! Dragon Soul Press accepted my submission within two days of sending it off. I officially have my foot in the door, now it’s time to do a happy dance!

For those interested in learning more about my short story, here’s a quick description:

The Betrothal Trials is a Historical Fiction with dragons. This story takes place along the Silk Road, during the peaceful second century. Every nation had mythology regarding dragons during this time, but none knew of their actual existence.

Daiyu, the daughter of two proud dragonborn parents, is summoned home to once again begin her Betrothal Trials. These Trials are a three-step tradition that pair dragonborn females to dragonborn males. Their kind are dwindling and marriages between two distant cultures have become necessary for their race to continue to exist.

Daiyu doesn’t wish to be wed. She enjoys the freedom of the Chinese Protectorate, where she can work as a shaman in a village she’s adopted as her own. Her genuine passion lies in the art of healing.

Kabir is an honorable dragonborn male from India. He has spent his life being judged for his Vitiligo. His experiences help him empathize with Daiyu’s plight. Entering the Betrothal Trials started as a political maneuver for his family, but Kabir finds that he is falling for his resistant bride.
