I have two books to share today! PS Nail just came out with book two of the Primordial Gods. Her TikTok talked me into buying it, but I had to read book one first; therefore, two books. You have come to the right place if you love vampires, angels, witty banter, and spice.

Ember is a fire caster with a sad past. A vampire murdered her mother when she was young and since then she hates vampires. She spent most of her childhood learning how to defend herself and raising her little sister. When the book begins, she follows her fate and joins the King’s Guard. When your teacher is a vampire, moving to a new place and meeting new people is even harder. To make matters worse, this vampire is “just as dangerous as he is sexy.”

Valarian is a vampire of noble birth and leader of the King’s guard. Some of his powers allow him to understand how Ember feels (I want this to be a surprise, so I will not go into detail about it). This understanding allows him to pace himself. He is attracted to her, but slows his advances while he shows her vampires are not the evil creatures she thought they were.

Nails does a wonderful job developing romance throughout book one, setting herself up perfectly in book two. Cinder, ember’s little sister, meets Cashmere on page five of book one. These two find themselves pulled together by something stronger than flirtation. Cinder overcomes a lot during Violet Flames, finding herself living with the King’s Guard as Emerald Skies opens. Though she cares deeply for the guard, she is not one of them and never will be. Between this and Ember’s big sister complex, Cinder feels like an outsider.

Cashmere is an Angel and an important member of the King’s guard. He is loyal, brave, funny, kind, and always hungry. His interest in Cinder differs from anything he has experienced in the past. He takes things slowly as he courts her until Ember steps in the way. He walks away from their encounter, questioning his worth and deciding Cinder deserves better.

While Emerald Skies covers Cinder’s story, Ember and Valarian are not forgotten, and trust me, you will not be disappointed in the outcome. Nail shifts from romance to romance and action scene to action scene without skipping a beat, weaving a web of spice and bad assery. If you are looking for a quick read, packed full of romance and fantasy then you are in the right place!
