Urgent Update 〰️

This will be our last publication. There are not many of us left, and those who have survived so far are doing their best to quarantine from each other. Few researchers remain to study the disease that has swept the globe over the past week and have yet to rule out viral transmission. The Centers for Disease Control recommends a complete lock-down, with those who can stay inside their homes. The latest data suggests the death toll from this unknown illness has surpassed three hundred million.

As we learn more, our best recommendation is to continue to quarantine. It’s tempting to try to keep a sense of normalcy in the face of this tragedy and keep holiday plans with loved ones, but this is sadly not advisible. You are putting others at risk, endangering their lives.

Readers should be wary of allergy-like symptoms, ranging from itchy eyes and skin rash to throat swelling. Prevention is the only remaining tool, as antihistamine medications, including Benadryl and most cough syrups, are no longer available. Across the country, reports continue of looters breaking into pharmacies and medical clinics to steal Epi-pens, rescue inhalers intended for those with asthma, and other prescription medications. Yesterday, health authorities issued a statement for survivors to avoid eating foods containing any corn and/or soy products. The same statement suggests wheat, rice, and other grains are not causing anaphylactic reactions in consumers.
